Philippe Stohr is Director of Energy at CEA.
Former graduate of the Ecole Polytechnique, ingénieur des Ponts, Philippe Stohr holds a DEA in environmental sciences and techniques from the University of Paris XII.
He began his career in the department “Energy, Transport and Natural Resources” of the Ministry of Research and Technology where he was in charge of the sectors “water and environment, air pollution, civil engineering and construction”.
From 2000 to 2005, he worked for ANDRA (French National Radioactive Waste Management Agency). He was Deputy General Manager and Project Director, in charge of project management and management of radioactive waste disposal projects and of the creation of the Meuse Haute-Marne research laboratory.
In 2006, Philippe Stohr joined the Dalkia group, first in France as Business Development Manager in the Strategy Department and then became head of the power segment in the Energy Markets Department. He was then appointed Strategy and Development Director of Dalkia in Germany, where he contributed to the group’s commercial development, particularly in the district heating and renewable energies.
At the end of 2011, he joined the Fortum group, as Country Manager of France, and then as Vice President of business development and new markets in hydropower & technologies division, and from 2016 as Vice President of wind power business.
In September 2018, he joined CEA as Director of Nuclear Energy and led an in-depth work on the future of energy mix and the necessary R&D. This resulted in the creation of the Direction of Energy in February 2020, which he is heading today.
Philippe Stohr is also board member of GIFEN (French nuclear industry association), member of Supervisory Board for Supernova Invest (Venture Capital funds management company specialized in disruptive technologies ventures), and administrator for GENVIA (hydrogen production through high temperature electrolysis).
