Dirk Rabelink

Dirk is CEO of ULC-Energy, a nuclear development company and consultancy based in the Netherlands.

ULC-Energy’s mission is to develop nuclear energy projects and deploy small modular reactor technology in the Netherlands. It has selected the Rolls-Royce SMR as the preferred solution and has established a framework of strategic cooperation agreements with Rolls-Royce SMR, Constellation (previously Exelon) and  BAM Infra Nederland.

Nuclear energy can deliver clean electricity and heat, 24/7 without CO2, NOX or particulate emissions. Combining established nuclear technology with high temperature electrolysis is the most cost-effective way to produce and deliver baseload hydrogen locally. ULC-Energy has coordinated a project based on Rolls-Royce SMR and Topsoe SOEC technology to demonstrate the setup and relative economics.

Dirk holds a Master’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the Technical University of Delft was trained as an investment banker in London before joining BHP in various commercial and strategic roles. He has 25 years’ experience in energy and energy intensive industries and has worked and lived extensively in Europe, Asia and the US.
