Mr. Schrotke received his B.S. in Computer Science (with a Minor in Mathematics) from Washington State University, and has taken advanced course work in Health Physics and Radiation Protection.
Mr. Schrotke is the Owner, and Principal, of Ron Schrotke, LLC. He has over 30 years of experience in quality and project management, engineering, and organizational administration – with particular involvement in the National Laboratory and Department of Energy (DOE) area. Mr. Schrotke has been a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) since 2000 and since 1987 has been an active participant on the ASME NQA-1 Committee on Nuclear Quality Assurance. Mr. Schrotke served as Chair of the NQA-1 Main Committee from 2008 – 2014, and is currently the Chair of the NQA-1 Main Committee, since July 2017. He has provided significant support, for the NQA-1 Standard, to:
- the development of computer software requirements (i.e., Subpart 2.7, Req. 3 paragraph 800) and guidance (Subpart 3.2-2.7 and 3.2-2.14),
- Subpart 4.2.1, guidance on using NQA in Research and Development activities,
- consideration on electronic records management – Req. 17 and 3.1-17A-2,
- and electronic information management (Subpart 4.2.2),
- direct the revision of NQA-1 Parts III and IV for clarification of understanding and the majority of the Part II Work Practices for bringing the material up-to-date.
Mr. Schrotke has been actively involved in fostering international interest and involvement with NQA-1, by being instrumental in the formation of a Subcommittee on International Activities and European and Chinese groups that work with Subcommittee.
Mr. Schrotke is also a member of the ASME Board of Nuclear Codes and Standards (BNCS).
Mr. Schrotke assisted in the development of Department of Energy (DOE) Headquarter Orders and Guides (particularly in the development of the Safety Software Guide – 414.1-4), and the development of the DOE-EM (Environmental Management) Quality Assurance Program Description.
Mr. Schrotke is the author and co-author and instructor of courses on NQA-1 and auditing that have been provided to a variety of audiences (e.g., DOE Headquarters, field offices).
Mr. Schrotke has worked in the commercial nuclear arena, developing start-up packages for a Nuclear Plant prior to operation. He has worked in manufacturing arena, using Military Standards and Nuclear Regulatory Commission Standards.
His experience with Standards and Regulations has allowed him to assist national and inter-national clients with quality assurance support (e.g., development of Quality Assurance Programs/Manuals, Plans, Procedures, Training, Subcontractor audits).
